The Isle of Arran in Scotland has traditionally been a popular holiday resort for the people of Glasgow on their annual Fair Fortnight holiday in July. However, now the season extends from spring well into autumn with even visits in winter a pleasure as it’s all about ‘getting away from it all’.

The Auchrannie House Hotel (4*) is situated just outside the main town of Brodick. With only 28 bedrooms, some in the original part of the house, the service is attentive and friendly. Bedrooms have views over the estate grounds and breakfast is served in Eighteen69, the award winning restaurant in the glasshouse. Dinner is also served in the restaurant with the emphasis on Scottish produce and contemporary dining.
Brambles Seafood and Grill is a relaxed restaurant and bar serving local beef and freshly caught fish. Enjoy a coffee by the fire or sit on the terrace and sip a cocktail. There is a children’s menu available.
Other facilities include a leisure club with swimming pool.
Nearby is the Auchrannie Spa Resort (4*) the ‘funky little sister’ to the main hotel. Its 36 bedrooms have amazing views over Goatfell, the highest mountain on the Isle, and Glencloy. Some rooms can accommodate up to two adults and two children and rooms with disabled facilities are available.
Cruize bar brasserie is open all day for all meals as well as snacks, coffees and drinks.
The leisure club is extensive with a swimming pool , games hall and spa and offers a wide range of beauty treatments and complementary therapies. There is a Teen Zone, a soft play area and an Internet cafe.
Auchrannie Country Club (5*) consists of 23 luxury lodges set in the grounds of the estate and sleeping up to 8 persons. They come fully fitted with everything necessary for self-catering but with the option of dining at the various restaurants and using both hotel and spa leisure clubs.
4* Self Catering on the Isle of Arran
Apart from the Auchrannie Country Club, there is a variety of high quality self catering accommodation.
Sannox Garden Cottage (4*) in the north-west of the Isle is a secluded, quiet cottage with its own walled garden. It sleeps 4 and is near to the 9-hole Corrie golf course and sandy beaches.
Kilbride Farm Cottage (4*) lies on the south coast of Arran at Kilmory and can sleep 10. It has plenty of facilities for children including a games room and an adventure play area as well as a glorious stretch of sandy beach.
Miodar Mor (4*), Kildonan consists of four luxury self catering houses with stunning views over Pladda and Ailsa Craig. Three of the properties have four bedrooms and the other has three. Balconies and decks are situated to make the most of the views.
Wherever you chose to stay, you’re never far from the Isle of Arran’s attractions. And the first is the sail on the ferry to get to the Isle. Magic!
